- Name: Kelli Russell Agodon
I'm a poet, writer, editor, and book cover designer from the Seattle area.
My most recent collection of poems is Hourglass Museum (White Pine Press, 2014), which was a finalist for the Julie Suk Poetry Prize. I'm also the coauthor of The Daily Poet:Day-By-Day Prompts for Your Writing Practice, which I wrote with poet Martha Silano.
My last book was Letters from the Emily Dickinson Room, which was chosen by Carl Dennis for the White Press Poetry Prize, then later it went on to win ForeWord Magazine's Book of the Year in Poetry and was a Finalist for the
Washington State Book Prize. I'm also the author of Small
Knots, Geography, and Fire On
Her Tongue: An Anthology of Contemporary Women's Poetry which I edited with Annette Spaulding-Convy.
I've been writing poetry, creative nonfiction, personal essays, and some fiction since I was an undergrad at the University of Washington. I returned to school in 2004 for my Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at Pacific Lutheran University.
I am the cofounder of Two Sylvias Press and the Co-Director of Poets on the Coast: A Weekend Writing Retreat for Women. I live in a small seaside town where I'm an avid paddleboarder and mountain biker, who loves the visual arts from photography to graphic design, in fact, I designed the tarot cards of The Poet Tarot & Guidebook for Two Sylvias Press.
I have a fondness for fedoras, typewriters, and dessert (except for cheesecake).
